Another weekend gone already…… I’m exhausted. People think that getting up there and singing is just a fun little thing and that there’s nothing to it. What they don’t see the next day is how drained I am, or all the little bruises and nicks I’ve incurred in the form of “entertainment” from the night before. Not to mention by wearing boots that have a three inch heel, how my quads are quivering the next day from being overworked. Whew. Still wouldn’t trade it for anything, but it does come with a price.
Nother day at work tomorrow. Now that ADS has bought out AEP, we all wonder what’s going to happen to our contracts. Who knows. Been refreshing the resume and starting to put the feelers out into the market. On Friday our newspaper reported that Tulsa has the second highest unemployment rate in the nation. We’re behind San Jose, home of the Silicon Valley Empire. Pretty pathetic if you ask me. Anyway, last company leaving Tulsa, please turn out the lights. Knock on wood, I’ve never been off a contract, even in the rough times. I’ve gone from Friday to Monday from one contract to the next. I just pray that I can keep it up in the future. Then again maybe it’s time to move…
Didn’t post yesterday. sosumi.
Been pursuing a lot of artistic tendencies lately…. been messing with some Flash cartoon / animation / game development. Yeah I should be brushing up on my C# skills but… not as much fun. :) Got the cross stitching going again too… I am the type that cannot sit still in front of a TV without doing something “productive”.
I absolutely adore my Wacom Intuos2 tablet…makes digital artwork/animation a pleasure instead of a frustration. Plan to post a gallery of the random stuff that I’ve come up with, if for no other reason than for entertainment value when real artists surf my site, hee hee.
Been watching a lot of cartoons….both online and on Cartoon Network. Learning by watching. By the way I *HATE* anime. It’s about the stupidest form of animation I’ve ever seen. :: shrugs :: Guess I’m a Disney-type. I’d rather appeal to the masses than some 15 year old r0x0r pH@t 37337 script kiddie who thinks the world revolves around him.
It revolves around me, silly. ;)
What a weekend…..I’m absolutely exhausted. It’s one of those weekends where I’m happier to be at work than I am to be on the weekend….. that says a lot for how tiring it was.
It started with a round of tornadoes ripping through the area AGAIN….the 2nd time in two days…..some people got hit twice even. We were directly in the path of it, but we just got some hail and a tree limb down, despite seeming rotation all around us. That was Friday night….had to be up till two something AM just to make sure we weren’t going to see the Promised Land prematurely.
Saturday I had the Cherokee Yacht Club gig with Pop Life…..what a disaster. Jeff’s instructions were awful, I ended up getting horribly lost and caught out in a severe thunderstorm, washouts so bad I couldn’t even see the road. Finally I found it…..but I was a bit grouchy by then. The place was empty (OF COURSE)…..what did they expect, what with horridly severe storms on top of a Mother’s Day weekend? :: rolls eyes :: Oh well. We got paid the same.
Sunday was spent trying to recover from Saturday…..felt like I was slogging through the mud all day. Did a little bit of cross stitching while watching TV, but other than that I was just trying to recover from the weekend. Took Aaron’s mom out to Outback steakhouse for M-Day.
Back at work today, barely awake but functioning (somewhat). No new Strongbad email today….grrr…. although he did have a new cartoon clip up :) I love that site….. oh… here….. you look too: Homestar Runner
Gig was rather dead last night, but entertaining nonetheless. Sometimes people just sit there and stare at you like they’ve never seen a human being onstage. So sometimes I just stand there and stare back, heh heh. I was in a rather mischevious mood last night, especially since it was so quiet… what can you do you know? If you stand there and look nervous because it’s so empty it’s horrid for the band, if you get snotty because it’s so empty… same thing. So I decided I may as well just mess with people from the stage. I was entertained in any case.
Went to work late today, was nice to get a little bit of sleep. I’ve got a gig with Pop Life tomorrow over at Cherokee Yacht Club. That gig’s always good for a laugh — I like to call the place Silicon Valley because of all the old men with young bimbos that have fake body parts. AAaaaaaaaaaanyways…. I digress.
Oh yeah. Found this link the other day…… http://www.yesterland.com
Kind of a wistful, bittersweet reunion with the Disneyland of the past. It will never be the same as it was back then growing up. In a way it’s a microcosm of the world. Things will never again be quite how they used to be… for better or worse… guess that’s really what nostalgia is — trying to hold on to the memory of how things were. Anyways, I wax philosophical.
I’ve got a gig tonight….over at the Elephant Run…. SMiRK gig. I’m not terribly prepped, been so busy running around like a chicken without a head. Oh well, we’ll see how it goes. I haven’t been getting more than 5 hours of sleep a night for a long time, and it’s taking its toll. Blech.
Using blogger.com to test out some new blogging that I’ve been trying to get accomplished for awhile… this area might be a little messy for awhile while I figure out the best format with which to get this blog up and running.
